rickyv:“Went to the Murakami exhibit at MOCA in downtown LA today. I think seeing 1-2 hrs of one artist’s work is a great way to see art (as opposed to spending an entire day in a museum). One interesting feature was a phone number and extention next to some of the works that you would call to hear the artist talk about the piece. Pretty much an updated version of those old “audio guided tours”. What a great idea! The execution was lacking, however, as the recording quality and the artist’s english were both poor.” I saw this at the R. Crumb exhibit as well. At first I thought people were just being rude, wandering around the gallery on the phone, but then I noticed small signs offering a guided audio tour. When I go back in a few weeks I’ll check it out. Seeing as cell reception at the Frye Museum was shoddy, I’m interested to see how well this feature works. The future is now!
