My goals are simple: I want true love, a dog, a baby, and to write a book that’s featured on a table at Urban Outfitters during the holidays.
And these nails, obviously.

Song

I am stuck in traffic in a taxicab
which is typical
and not just of modern life

mud clambers up the trellis of my nerves
must lovers of Eros end up with Venus
muss es sein? es muss nicht sein, I tell you

how I hate disease, it’s like worrying
that comes true
and it simply must not be able to happen

in a world where you are possible
my love
nothing can go wrong for us, tell me

— Frank O’Hara, 1960

I first heard Sonic Youth play in 2005 at a benefit for Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore’s eldest daughter’s middle school in Northampton, Massachusetts. Between this piece (which I have many notes on and unresolved feelings about) and these two dudes’ impending divorce, I’m not sure what to make of this whole state of marriage thing.
You guys?

Come Around - M.I.A. featuring Timbaland

I casually put this on a mix two months ago and now it’s all there is as the late-summer afternoon stretches into evening and Monday looms in the distance.

Today begins the first day of my re-entrance into the brave world of the unemployed. Rent is due on Friday. Better get to dancing.
